Fleas and Tick Tricks

I read these in an article in Alive Magazine. Rather than using chemical based flea products to rid your dog of these irritating pests try adding a clove of garlic or 1 brewers yeast tablet to their food daily. Both are excreted through the skin after ingested leaving a scent that will sent fleas packing. This one is from Canada's Guide To Dogs.

You can also make up your own herbal flea and tick dip: steep 2 cups of rosemary in one litre of boiling water for 30 minutes, strain the liquid, discard the leaves and top up with 4 litres of warm water, then pour the mixture over your dog until its coat is completely saturated - don't rinse off just let your dog's coat dry naturally. This one is from Frances Gavin of Canine Natural Cures.

I started giving our dog 1 clove of garlic today!

Wasting waste water

Well this is really simple and we have all heard it before - If it's yellow let it mellow. I have done it before at the cottage but at home in civilization!!! Yes it is possible and it isn't gross, my brother in law has a deck of cards and uses Euchre scoring to indicate how many deposits have been made in the toilet at 3 we can flush. I have started this at home - in the "civilized world".

Did you know?

An old-style single flush toilet can use up to 12 litres of water in one flush.

Not sure how much water your house hold consumes in a day?
